By the end of Tuesday, about 160 Camden (N.J.) Police officers will have turned in their guns and police radios in one of the most dangerous cities in the nation, as a budget crunch grips the department.
Mayor Dana Redd and Camden Police Chief Scott Thomson have said the agency will continue to manage even though the approximately 370-member force was hacked in half, reports the Courier-Post.
The department has also shifted to 12-hour shifts to manage the lower staffing level.
