Camden Officers Begin Turning In Badges, Guns

Mayor Dana Redd and Camden Police Chief Scott Thomson have said the agency will continue to manage even though the approximately 370-member force was hacked in half.

By the end of Tuesday, about 160 Camden (N.J.) Police officers will have turned in their guns and police radios in one of the most dangerous cities in the nation, as a budget crunch grips the department.

Mayor Dana Redd and Camden Police Chief Scott Thomson have said the agency will continue to manage even though the approximately 370-member force was hacked in half, reports the Courier-Post.

The department has also shifted to 12-hour shifts to manage the lower staffing level.
