Lakewood (N.J.) Police Officer Chris Matlosz was fatally shot three times while questioning a pedestrian who opened fire at close range, reports the Star-Ledger.
Matlosz, 27, had stopped his patrol car in a residential neighborhood and begun questioning the subject when the man pulled out a handgun and opened fire shortly after 4 p.m. A manhunt is now underway for the gunman. A $40,000 reward has been offered.
