Florida Deputy Returns to Duty Following Knife Attack

An Orange County (Fla.) Sheriff's deputy returned to duty today, slightly more than two months after he was stabbed in the neck by a suspect during a robbery at a convenience store.

An Orange County (Fla.) Sheriff's deputy returned to duty today, slightly more than two months after he was stabbed in the neck by a suspect during a robbery at a convenience store, the agency announced.

Dep. Steve Cook, a 27-year veteran of the agency, responded to a 7-Eleven on Nov. 5 to investigate a report that an employee was stealing from the business.

Gibran Flores-Remigio, 25, attacked Cook with a "cutting instrument." The deputy then shot and killed the employee. Cook's injuries were described as life threatening.
