Oakland To Lose More Officers, After Funding Measures Fail
Following the layoff of 80 Oakland officers in July due to city budget shortfalls, the department now stands at 673 officers. However, the city can only support 637 officers through June.
The Oakland Police Department will likely lose additional officers, after voters rejected two of the three revenue-raising measures on the Nov. 2 ballot.

Voters did approve Measure BB, enabling the city to keep collecting revenue from a $90-a-year parcel tax that pays for police services.
