The Los Angeles Police Department lost one of their own, as the department learned Marine reservist Staff Sgt. Joshua J. Cullins had died as a result of injuries sustained while working as an explosive ordnance officer in Afghanistan, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Cullins had bounced back from a concussion suffered during the July 16 explosion of a roadside bomb.
Fellow officers including Chief Charlie Beck recorded a video get-well greeting for Cullins that was posted to YouTube. Cullins is the second LAPD officer killed while serving in Afghanistan this year. In March, the department lost Marine Corps Reserve Sgt. Maj. Robert J. Cottle , a SWAT team member.
