One woman was killed and three others were injured in a shooting on South Union State Community College's Opelika campus Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
Following the shooting, the alleged gunman, Thomas Franklin May III, apparently walked up to reporters and told them "I'm the guy" police were searching for as the shooter, reports MSNBC.
The woman who was killed was 63 years old. A 90-year-old woman who was shot in the neck and back was airlifted to a hospital in Georgia, Fox News reports. Another woman, 36, was shot in the arm and a 4-year-old boy was struck by shards of glass.
May allegedly fired into the vehicle driven by one of the victims, reports Reuters. The shooting was prompted by a domestic dispute and took place outside an academic building on campus.
The college and the neighboring Opelika High School were put on lockdown. Classes were canceled and the college will remain closed for the evening.
