Iowa Officer Treated After Meth Vial Ruptures

A Des Moines (Iowa) PD police officer was treated Wednesday after a meth vial ruptured in her hands and sprayed her in the face, reports the Des Moines Register.

Officer Shawna Ellis went to Iowa Methodist Medical Center for an exposure evaluation following the arrest of James Michael Cogdill, 31, who has been charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, a probation violation, fifth-degree theft, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officer Ellis had recovered the vial during a search of Cogdill during a shoplifting investigation, and had asked him several times what was in the vial.
