Seattle Cop Who Fatally Shot Woodcarver Won't Face Charges
In announcing the decision Wednesday morning, King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg said he was troubled by some of Birk's actions, such as the officer's quick decision to fire. Satterberg also said he saw no malicious intent by the officer.
Seattle Police Officer Ian Birk won't face criminal charges stemming from his shooting of a homeless carver, reports the Seattle Times.
In announcing the decision Wednesday morning, King County Prosecutor Dan Satterberg said he was troubled by some of Birk's actions, such as the officer's quick decision to fire. Satterberg also said he saw no malicious intent by the officer.
Officer Birk fatally shot carver John T. Williams on Aug. 30, firing four shots at Williams who had a 3-inch folding knife in his hands.
