California Agency Pays $150,000 To Settle Suit With Lieutenant

Lt. Robin Heinemann, who won a class action settlement against the department in 1998 after suing for sexual harassment, said conditions in the department deteriorated again to the point that "she simply couldn't take it any more."

The city of Concord, Calif., has agreed to pay $150,000 to settle a gender discrimination suit brought by the highest ranking female officer to receive a settlement, reports the Contra Costa Times.

Lt. Robin Heinemann's claim was one of three related suits that included the now-pending claim by Lt. Tim Runyon, who claims command staff retailated against him for standing up for Heinemann.

Heinemann, who won a class action settlement against the department in 1998 after suing for sexual harassment, said conditions in the department deteriorated again to the point that "she simply couldn't take it any more."
