While waiting to make a deposit at the drive-through ATM of the ChoiceOne bank in Ravenna, local business owner Timothy Hendges spotted the two bank robbers who later struck and killed an officer during a high-speed pursuit.

When Hendges saw the two men leave the bank, he saw them get into a black GMC Jimmy SUV. He followed them in his Ford pickup truck and jotted down the vehicle's license plate number.

The robbers spotted him, so Hendges pulled off the road. He headed again in their direction and saw a blue Oldsmobile Bravada pull out of the parking lot of an old foundry.

Hendges returned to a Ravenna hardware store and called in the information to authorities. Walker (Mich.) Police officer Trevor Slot was struck and killed by the robbers as he attempted to deploy stop sticks to end the pursuit.
