An attempted-murder charge has been dropped against a man Orlando Police officers said attempted to ram them with his van outside a Target store in November.
The decision came after the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) obtained surveillance video appearing to show an Orlando PD pickup truck pushing the van into other officers' vehicles.
Orlando PD's Sgt. Rhonda Huckelbery was investigating the men in the van, who were suspected of stealing her husband's credit cards the day before and using them to buy about $1,000 in electronics.
The agency does not have a policy disallowing officers from investigating crimes involving their relatives. About a dozen officers were involved in the take-down in the Target parking lot on East Colonial Drive on the Sunday before Thanksgiving 2010.
Officers shot van occupant Rogelio Cortes in the abdomen and arm during the incident.
