Los Angeles County prosecutors announced this week they will seek the death penalty against Lonnie Franklin, Jr., who has been accused of 10 murders of mostly prostitutes in South Los Angeles.
Also, Los Angeles Police detectives working the case revealed details about eight possible new victims they believe may have been murdered by Franklin, a former sanitation worker and city mechanic.
Of the eight new cases LAPD detectives are investigating, two involve women who disappeared during the 13-year period. A third went missing in 1982, before the first of the 10 known killings.
