Chicago Cop's Accused Killer Denied Bail
Antwon Carter, 24, has been charged with murder and attempted robbery in the fatal shooting of Officer Michael Bailey. As detectives investigated the case, Carter was sitting in the Illinois Department of Corrections on a parole violation.
Bail has been denied for the 24-year-old man accused of gunning down Chicago Police Officer Michael Bailey a year ago, as he polished his new Buick that was a retirement present to himself.
Antwon Carter, 24, has been charged with murder and attempted robbery in the fatal shooting of Bailey in July 2010.
As detectives investigated the case, Carter was sitting in the Illinois Department of Corrections on a parole violation. He apparently openly talked about the slaying.
In a statement from the Chicago PD's news affairs office, the agency asked media members to refrain from contacting family members.
"They have expressed today that they take comfort in recent charging of an individual in this case," according to the statement. "The family and fellow officers continue to mourn the loss of a dedicated and loving individual and police officer."
