Mass Arrests of Occupiers Mark 'Day of Action' In NYC, L.A.

New York and Los Angeles police officers arrested hundreds of Occupiers Thursday on the two-month anniversary of the demonstrations that had been labeled the "day of action."

More than 250 people were arrested in New York on Thursday evening. Demonstrators participated in a massive union-organized march across the Brooklyn Bridge, reports the New York Daily News .

Earlier in the week Mayor Michael Bloomberg had ordered the clearing of Zuccotti Park by NYPD officers donning riot gear who again clashed with protesters on Thursday.

In Los Angeles, 72 demonstrators were arrested downtown on charges that included trespassing, remaining at an unlawful assembly and interfering with a peace officer, reports the Los Angeles Times .

The LAPD also fenced off its own headquarters to prevent Occupiers from pitching tents on the lawn, reports the Daily News .
