Two NYPD detectives involved in the Sean Bell shooting in 2006 have offered to retire, while two other officers defended their actions in the department's trial room on Monday.
The two officers, Detective Gescard Isnora and Officer Michael Carey, fought for their jobs in front of an audience that included Bell's fiancée.
In 2008, three of the five officers who fired at Bell—Isnora, Marc Cooper, and Michael Oliver—were aquitted on criminal charges in State Supreme Court in Queens.
Bell was killed in a hail of 50 rounds as he and several friends left a Queens strip club on what would have been his wedding day. Officers said they believed Bell was planning a drive-by shooting.
