Video: Texas Cop Fatally Shot at Walmart

An Austin (Texas) Police Department officer was fatally shot after responding to a report of an intoxicated man at a Walmart early Friday. Senior Police Officer Jaime Padron was shot in the neck at point-blank range after arriving at the Walmart off I-35 near Parmer Lane.

An Austin (Texas) Police Department officer was fatally shot after responding to a report of an intoxicated man at a Walmart early Friday.

Senior Police Officer Jaime Padron was shot in the neck at point-blank range after arriving at the Walmart off I-35 near Parmer Lane. Officer Padron was shot near the doorway of the store. Two employees then tackled the suspect, reports the Austin American Statesman.

Responding units arrived and arrested Brandon Montgomery Daniel, 24, and booked him into the Travis County Jail. Police had recieved a 911 call about an intoxicated subject at 2:21 a.m.

Officer Padron, a three-year veteran, leaves behind two daughters, 10 and 6, and his parents.
