A grand jury in Macon, Ga., has indicted Omega Police Chief Walter Young for physically abusing a man in custody, the Department of Justice has announced.
Chief Young, 54, allegedly assaulted "A.M.," a pretrial detainee, thereby violating the civil rights of the detainee on March 24. The indictment further charges that A.M. suffered bodily injury as a result of Young's use of excessive force, the DOJ announced today.
If convicted, Young faces 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
