VIDEO: Ohio Man Ignores Commands at Vehicle Stop
A Reynoldsburg (Ohio) Police officer broke his hand during a scuffle with a man who ignored repeated commands during a traffic stop.
At 1:47 a.m. on Feb. 12, Officer Shane Mauger witnessed a vehicle turn out of a gas station at East Livingston Avenue and Brice Road. The wrong-way driver headed south in the north-bound lanes of Brice. Officer Mauger initiated a traffic stop, reports NBC4i.
Timothy A. Irskens, 31, pulled over and immediately exited his vehicle. Patrol-car video shows Irskens walking toward the officer and moving his hands toward his waistband. He then turns and circles around the front of the vehicle to approach the officer from the side of the roadway.
Officer Mauger, with his service weapon drawn, orders Irskens to "get down on the ground." The officer orders Irskens to show his hands and "stop right there." Irskens walks back toward the driver's side of his vehicle. At this point, Irskens tackles him.
