Charles Van Morgan was fired from the Tennessee Highway Patrol earlier this month and also faces a $10 million wrongful-death lawsuit filed in federal court by the parents of the victim. His last day of work was Monday.
On Saturday, Knox County prosecutors announced they were forced to dismiss all cases handled by Van Morgan. The cases were against 95 people for crimes ranging from felonies to misdemeanors, reporte the News Sentinel.
On Nov. 26, Van Morgan was pursuing 20-year-old Gordon Kyle Anito, who lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree. As the vehicle began to catch fire, investigators say Van Morgan slowed to 20 mph but continued driving past the wreck.
