Colo. Motor Officer Killed In Motorcycle Crash

Matthew Tyner, a 13-year veteran of the department, was riding his motorcycle and conducting traffic enforcement when he collided with a vehicle on Austin Bluffs Parkway near Oro Blanco Drive.

A Colorado Springs (Colo.) Police Department officer died Tuesday afternoon when his police motorcycle collided with another vehicle.

Matthew Tyner, a 13-year agency veteran, was a member of the Specialized Enforcement Motorcycle Unit. He was riding his motorcycle and conducting traffic enforcement when he collided with a vehicle on Austin Bluffs Parkway near Oro Blanco Drive.

"Today proved to be devastating to the Colorado Springs Police Department," Chief Pete Carey told the Gazette.

“Ranger Grossheim responded Sunday morning to a distress call from park visitors near Birch Cove Island. After taking a family of three aboard his National Park Service boat, the vessel overturned amid high winds and rough waters," NPS said.

National Park Service Ranger Kevin Grossheim died Sunday while trying to rescue a family in distress on a Minnesota lake. His boat capsized in rough waters. The family was rescued but Grossheim drowned.
