Charges have been filed against a man who joined an attack on a Chicago Police officer who struck his 4-year-old cousin during a motorcycle accident in Maywood.
John Passley was charged Monday with one count each of aggravated battery to a police officer and aggravated battery on a public way, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.
The officer was heading home when he lost control of his motorcycle, which struck Christopher Middleton's 4-year-old daughter. The officer had laid down the bike to try to avoid the child. Middleton ran into the street and began punching the officer, while Passley, the girl's cousin, began kicking the officer.
The officer fatally shot Middleton during the attack.
