A deputy U.S. marshal shot and wounded a man who rammed the officer's SUV during a confrontation in a parking lot near a strip mall in Clairmont on Tuesday evening.

The marshal had put away his gear in his SUV and was preparing to leave when a man approached him and began a verbal argument. The marshal told the man to leave. Instead he got into his car and twice rammed the marshal's vehicle, reports U-T San Diego.

The marshal exited the passenger-side door, drew his weapon, and told the man to raise his hands. When the suspect moved his hands toward the floorboard, the marshal fired multiple shots.

The aftermath of the shooting was captured by a citizen on a cell-phone camera, reports NBC San Diego.
