VIDEO: Iowa Cop Saves Teen from Engulfed Car
An Urbandale (Iowa) Police officer and police intern pulled an unconscious teen from his burning vehicle Sunday evening, likely saving the 18-year-old's life.
Officer Zac McDowell responded after a caller reported a crash at 10:35 p.m. at the Urbandale Baptist Church. Ian Waseskuk had been doing doughnuts in teh church parking lot, when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into an air-conditioning unit.
Dashboard video from Officer McDowell's cruiser shows the officer breaking the pasenger-side window with his duty flashlight. When he opened the door, smoke poured out of Waseskuk's Buick.
The officer, with the help of police intern Nick Schroeder, reached in and pulled Waseskuk out and dragged him to safety, reports WOI.
