Inmate Fatally Stabs Federal C.O.

An inmate fatally stabbed a federal corrections officer Monday night in Wayne County, Pa., with a homemade shank, reports WNEP .

Officer Eric Williams, 34, was pronounced dead at 11:30 p.m. following the assault at United States Penitentiary-Canaan, a high security institution located near Waymart about 20 miles east of Scranton.

Officer Williams had worked at the prison since September of 2011.
