The ex-LAPD cop suspected of killing three people, including a police officer, is a decorated Iraq War veteran who won commendations for pistol expertise and rifle marksmanship.
Chris Dorner, who was last seen in the Big Bear area on Thursday afternoon, vowed to use his military training to wage a war of attrition against his former department. In a manifesto he posted online, Dorner wrote that he would "utilize every bit of small arms training, demolition, ordnance, and survival training I've been given."
He also threatened "unconventional and asymmetrical warfare to those in LAPD uniform."
Dorner joined the Naval service in 2002 and has served in San Diego, Bahrain, Nevada, and the mobile inshore undersea warfare unit, according to the Navy. He attained the rank of lieutenant in 2006, reports ABC News.
