An Orange County (Calif.) Sheriff's deputy used his baton to shatter the window of a burning vehicle so he could pull a man out who had suffered a medical emergency.
Two deputies were on patrol in Yorba Linda last week, when they spotted a vehicle with smoke and flame coming from the engine area. Other deputies arrived, and observed the driver sitting in the car alert and attempting to smoke a cigarette.
After the man ignored repeated commands, deputies approached the vehicle, one with a gun drawn. Deputy Shayne Steifel broke the window as flames increased and pulled them man to safety, reports KTLA.
