A Kansas City (Mo.) Police sergeant grabbed a suicidal man early Saturday before he could jump off a highway overpass.
Sgt. Steven Griswold responded to a stranded motorist call and parked his cruiser on the Interstate 49 ramp. The drop to Interstate 470 below is about 60 feet. The officer's patrol car video system then captured the unfolding scene. A man leaned against the ramp barrier with his vehicle's door open.
As Sgt. Griswold approached, the man began climbing up the barrier to jump. He grabbed the man's legs and pulled him back to safety. The sergeant took him into custody and transported him for mental health treatment, reports the Kansas City Star.
