VIDEO: S.C. Grandma's Pursuit with 4-Year-Old
A grandmother led Sumter (S.C.) Police officers on a high-speed pursuit with her 4-year-old granddaughter in the vehicle not wearing a seatbelt.
Police arrested Susie Loretta Oaks-Thomas, 41, at the end of a pursuit that reached speeds of 100 mph on Aug. 29 just after 1 p.m., reports WLTX. She has several outstanding warrants.
Officers initiated a pursuit after Oaks-Thomas ran a red light while talking on a cell phone. During the chase, Oaks-Thomas ran several stop signs and swerved between vehicles as she attempted to elude officers.
She eventually stopped her vehicle, and officers took her into custody with guns drawn. Officers found her 4-year-old granddaugher in the back of the vehicle unrestrained.
