A Nassau County (N.Y.) Police officer was shot after responding to a residential burglary on Long Island early Tuesday and remains in stable condition.
Officer Mohit Arora, a six-year veteran, was the first officer to arrive at a two-story home at 41 Campbell St. in New Hyde Park at 1:50 a.m. Police believe the robbery was not random.
Arora's fast response time prevented the burglars from taking anything from the home. As they exited, they feigned surrendering and then opened fire on the officer, wounding him in the hip.
Two suspects have been arrested in an ongoing investigation, reports the New York Daily News.
