The Nebraska panhandle community is reeling after 24-year-old corrections officer Amanda Baker was strangled Friday morning, KOTA TV reports.

Baker was declared brain dead Friday afternoon, hours after she was strangled by 15-year-old inmate Dylan Cardeilhac at the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center in Gering.
