Federal prosecutors will seek the death penalty against accused Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, U.S. Attorney Carmen M. Ortiz announced today.
The much-anticipated decision by Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. comes months after Ortiz's office made a top-secret recommendation on whether they would seek capital punishment against Tsarnaev, who authorities say planned and carried out the attack that killed three and injured more than 260 on April 15, the Associated Press reports.
