The ashes of Lawrence Cambra, the man who killed Oregon City (Ore.) Reserve Officer Robert Libke this month, were removed from a military cemetery Thursday after officials were alerted to what he had done.

Department of Veterans Affairs regulations allow cemetery officials to deny burial when there is "clear and convincing evidence" that a person committed a capital crime but died prior to prosecution.

"We were notified of the situation and the VA did take action,"  Roger Huntley, Willamette National administrative officer, told the Daily Oregonian.
