Two whistleblowers from the Border Patrol station in San Ysidro, Calif., are alleging that certain agents there routinely claim two hours of overtime pay per day that they don’t qualify for — and in some cases don’t actually work, the San Diego Union Tribune reports.
The revelation is contained in a three-page letter by the Office of Special Counsel, an independent federal agency that protects whistleblowers and investigates personnel violations.
The letter details the overtime abuse as an ongoing and pervasive problem at Border Patrol, Customs and Border Protection and other agencies in the giant Department of Homeland Security.
