Video: 2 Florida Officers are Victims in Domestic Shooting
Naples (Fla.) PD is reeling after the death of a 10-year veteran officer and wounding of a 14-year veteran officer in serious condition from an apparent domestic shooting in nearby Estero, Fla.
The Naples (Fla.) Police Department grieved Wednesday after learning a veteran officer was killed and another is fighting for her life at a local hospital in what appears to be an early-morning domestic shooting in Estero, Fla.
Just before 1 a.m., Lee County deputies were called to the 21000 block of Sunset Lake Court, which is in the Lakes of Estero neighborhood across the street from Estero High School.
Sgt. Amy E. Young, 40, a 14-year veteran of the department, was in critical condition after the shooting at her home at 21790 Sunset Lake Court. She was shot in the face, Naples Police Chief Tom Weschler told the Naples Daily News.
Officer Luis "Dave" Monroig, 37, a 10-year Naples police veteran, was killed in the shooting.
Details of how the shooting took place have not yet been released, but officials say they believe nobody else was involved in the incident.
