A Philadelphia school police officer died Monday after helping break up a large and complaining about chest pains.
Sgt. Daryl Giles, 50, was a 19-year veteran of the district, and long-time officer at the school.
The School District of Philadelphia told WTXF TV that the school staff found Giles unresponsive from an unknown medical emergency in the bathroom on Monday afternoon.
"He was a longtime member of the George Washington High School family, and he's really loved by the students and staff, so it's been a tremendous shock to them," district spokesman Fernando Gallard told Philly.com.
Police say three students were arrested in the fight. They are facing disorderly conduct charges.
