VIDEO: Wisconsin Officer Runs Marathon in Uniform and Gear to Honor Fallen
A Hobart-Lawrence, Wis., police officer chose to run last weekend's Cellcom Green Bay Marathon in a full uniform, duty gear, and a ballistic vest.
Officer Israel Deutsch ran the 26 miles in his work clothes to raise money for the families of fallen officers and to honor the sacrifices of those officers.
WBAY TV reports that the race was not easy for Deutsch. "An injury came back about mile 19 so I had to walk a little bit, but it's not about racing, it's about the journey coming out here and spreading the word," Deutsch told the TV station.
After a rigorous 4 hours and 24 minutes, Deutsch crossed the finish line.
