Suburban Cook County, Ill., deputies are being redeployed to Chicago to help arrest wanted felons.

The Cook County Sheriff's Department is taking extreme measures to suppress gun violence in Chicago with a new Illinois law enforcement strategy that redeploys deputies from the suburbs to the city.

Those deputies are going after people with arrest warrants, often for violent crimes.

"Sometimes it's hard to get a good address. And when we get one we work it pretty hard," Cook County Sheriff's Sgt. Emiliano Valenica told NBC Chicago.

“Ranger Grossheim responded Sunday morning to a distress call from park visitors near Birch Cove Island. After taking a family of three aboard his National Park Service boat, the vessel overturned amid high winds and rough waters," NPS said.

National Park Service Ranger Kevin Grossheim died Sunday while trying to rescue a family in distress on a Minnesota lake. His boat capsized in rough waters. The family was rescued but Grossheim drowned.
