A man was shot dead by Kent (Wash.) PD officers early Sunday afternoon in a shootout near a hotel on the north end of the city, reports the Seattle Times.
During the gunfire, one shot hit a propane tank, causing it to explode and injure four of five officers involved in the incident.
Police were called to the hotel about 10:45 a.m. on a report that someone in the hotel had a firearm. The man fled. Police set up a perimeter and when they located the man there was an exchange of gunfire.
The man was shot dead. None of the officers was hit by gunfire.
The four injured by the exploding propane tank suffered superficial burns and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
