VIDEO: New Mexico Officer Killed in Single-Car Crash
Rio Rancho (N.M.) PD officers are mourning after one of the department's young officers died in a single-car crash early Sunday morning, reports KRQE.
The rookie officer, 24-year-old Anthony Haase, died from his injuries after wrecking his cruiser on Idalia Road near Highway 528. He is remembered as both a promising young police officer and a star on the baseball field.
"Officer Anthony Haase was responding to a domestic violence call," said Lt. Paul Rogers of the Rio Rancho Police Department.
Rogers says Haase's cruiser went off the road and wrecked. His car was the only one involved. Haase had only been on the force for a little more than a year, graduating from the police academy last May.
