Sacramento County, Calif., Sheriff’s Dep. Danny Oliver was killed in this morning's shooting in a Motel 6 parking lot on Arden Way, Sheriff Scott Jones said in a press conference this afternoon, reports the Sacramento Bee. It was later confirmed that one of the two Placerville County deputies shot has also died.

Oliver, 47, is a 15-year veteran of the force and is survived by a wife and two daughters, Jones said.

Just before 4 p.m., officials announced the arrest of Marcelo Marquez, 34, who had been hiding in an Auburn home for hours, reports the Sacramento Bee.

Earlier this afternoon, authorities in Auburn said they believed they may have isolated the suspect who allegedly shot Oliver and a civilian in Sacramento before heading to Auburn, where he allegedly shot two deputies. They said he is holed up in a home on Belmont Drive in Auburn and they have moved SWAT units into place. A woman who had accompanied the suspect has been taken into custody, officials said.

Jones said the civilian victim in Sacramento was shot in the head when he refused to surrender his car to the alleged gunman. His condition is unknown.
