VIDEO: Footage of Kentucky Officer Singing Goes Viral

A YouTube video featuring a Lexington (Ky.) Police Officer singing during the city's Fourth Of July celebration is going viral and even got the attention of a rock star.

The officer on center stage was Sergeant Jason Rothermund, the president of the Fraternal Order of Police Bluegrass Lodge No. 4.

While Rothermund said, "I don't really claim to be a singer," a video of him singing "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" by Poison is making waves on YouTube, and shows otherwise.

On Monday afternoon even Poison lead singer and one of the writers of the song Brett Michaels tweeted at the Lexington Police Department and said, "This is truly awesome. Great job, Sergeant Rothermund, and thank you for your service!" Then he shared the video on his Facebook page, Lex18.com reports.

"I thought it was really cool for somebody like him to take just a few seconds out of his day and reach out to somebody in Lexington, Ky., and say thank you for your service," said Rothermund.
