VIDEO: Albuquerque PD Officer Saves Baby with CPR
Lapel video released by the Albuquerque Police Department shows an officer resuscitating an unconscious baby, reports KOAT.
Police said Officer Martin Smith was called to home in the Northeast Heights around 1 p.m. on May 14. When Smith arrived, a 7-month-old baby was unresponsive and the family was distraught.
Smith gave the child a few light breaths and rubbed her chest in order to revive the child.
"I started rubbing her chest and blowing in her face ... and she started coming out of it," he said. "That (woke her)."
The baby was taken to the hospital, and police said she’s doing great. The infant was diagnosed with a seizure disorder and is now on medication.
Smith said he'll never forget the call.
"That's what makes doing this job good. That's the good part of it," he said.
