The Deering District officers, John Conneely and Michael Modzelewski, were left with no choice but to go against department protocol -- and drive Princeton to the hospital on their own, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Princeton was one of five people shot following a family outing a little after 7 p.m. Monday near 53rd and Aberdeen streets in the South Side's Back of the Yards neighborhood. The boy's mother and grandmother were killed in the shooting.
