A Shannon County, Mo., sheriff's deputy ran off a county road and overturned his patrol car while pursuing a fleeing driver on Monday afternoon. The sheriff was a passenger in that patrol car, reports KY3.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol's report says Deputy Richard O'Dell "failed to negotiate a curve, ran off the right side of the roadway, and overturned."

Both O'Dell, 40, and Sheriff Steven Blunkall, 54, have minor injuries and told a trooper that they would seek medical treatment on their own. The Missouri State Highway Patrol's report says neither officer was wearing a seat belt.
