Two people were killed late Saturday night during an officer-involved shooting in Virginia Beach, Va. The shootout began when a male suspect shot at officers, who returned fire. The man was a person of interest in a homicide investigation.
Officers found the subject in a car outside the 7-Eleven at 2093 Lynnhaven Parkway. When officers got close, police say the subject shot at them. A bullet went through one officer’s shirt. He was not harmed.
Officers shot back at the car and hit the subject. During the shooting bullets also struck the female driver of the car. Both the driver and suspect died at the scene.
An infant was in the car at the time of the shooting. That child was not harmed and was turned over to Child Protective Services, WAVY TV reports.
