LAPD Sergeant Saved Man's Life After Freeway Crash
A Los Angeles police officer and three unidentified people were credited Friday with rescuing a man from a car that crashed on the 110 Freeway near Harbor Gateway and saving his life with CPR.
A Los Angeles police officer and three unidentified people were credited Friday with rescuing a man from a car that crashed on the 110 Freeway near Harbor Gateway and saving his life with CPR.
Sgt. Robin Petillo of the department’s Southeast Division encountered a five-car crash Monday while driving south approaching the 405 Freeway. When she stopped to help, she saw a man unconscious in his car. Three people helped her pry open the mangled door, but she found he was not breathing and was without a heartbeat.
Petillo performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and, with the aid of three officers who arrived to help, continued chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, and removed the man from the car.
Doctors revived the man at County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, the Daily Breeze reports.
