Point Blank Enterprises ("PBE"), known for its production of soft body armor and related protective solutions, today announced the introduction of the Alpha Elite Black, a product extension of the Alpha Elite Series. The latest Alpha Elite Black ballistics model is an enhancement to the previous Alpha Elite design, offering an additional 17 percent weight reduction while still providing the same high level of protection. The newest design will be showcased at the 2016 Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show) taking place January 19-22 at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

With the latest generation of Dyneema Force Multiplier Technology by DSM, Alpha Elite Black weighs a mere .79 psf (a significant reduction from the previous weight of .87 psf), with 9mm V-50s greater than 2,000 fps. The Alpha Elite Series was launched after Point Blank engineers began searching for a ballistic material that would meet the rigorous demands of U.S. Special Operations forces deployed in the world's most dangerous regions.

"Point Blank strives to continuously lead the industry in the development of personal protection solutions," said Michael Foreman, Executive Vice President of International Business Development, Federal Sales and Marketing at Point Blank Enterprises. "With the creation of Alpha Elite Black, a product that offers the highest level of protection at unparalleled weights, we are continuing to push the limits on design and innovation for the men and women who put their lives in danger to keep us safe. Already more than 40 different law enforcement units and several leading federal agencies are wearing the Alpha Elite body armor for its critical protection, performance and comfort benefits. This is the type of system that officers not only need but have asked for and our PBE team will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that we develop and deliver on what agencies require."

Similar to the original Alpha Elite product, Alpha Elite Black includes the Dyneema Force Multiplier Technology ballistic material that was developed to meet and exceed global standards for Law Enforcement, Military and U.S. Special Operations forces applications. It is designed to defeat high-velocity handgun rounds and fragmentation with minimal backface-deformation. Additionally, it offers truly superior multi-hit protection, according to the company.

Key attributes of Point Blank's Alpha Elite Series include:

  • Lightest and thinnest NIJ .06 Level IIIA packages

  • Model AXIIIA exceeds NIJ, DEA, FBI 4.1 protocol and German SK1 test requirements

  • Extremely high effectiveness against fragmentation

  • Exceptional multi-hit and special threats performance

  • Extraordinarily efficient absorption of impact energy

  • Availability in both male and female versions as well as concealable and tactical configurations

Since the launch in January 2014, Point Blank Enterprises has provided over 79,000 vests with Alpha Elite ballistics alone to U.S. law enforcement -- in less than two years. Point Blank estimates that nearly 30% of the body armor sold in the U.S. during 2015 has been the Alpha Elite. The system is being used by numerous LE departments nationwide including Chicago Police, Houston Police, Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Los Angeles Police, Miami-Dade Police, New York City Police, Orange County Sheriff's Office, Orlando Police, San Antonio Police, Texas Department of Public Safety, Utah Highway Patrol, Washington D.C. Metro Police, and various federal agencies.

Foreman concluded, "Today, more than ever, law enforcement needs the finest protection available and Point Blank has made that possible with the Alpha Elite. Keeping in mind that every officer deserves the best, PBE continues to demonstrate its commitment by making the most technologically advanced and affordable body armor solutions for all to have."

The Alpha Elite Black will be featured among a number of products unveiled at the Point Blank Enterprises booth #11366 at SHOT Show. Attendees interested in learning more about this ballistics system are welcome to visit the booth or contact Irene Chung directly at ichung@pbearmor.com or 954-529-7876 to schedule an onsite meeting with the PBE team.
