New Jersey Trooper Dies After Being Struck by Car

A New Jersey trooper struck by a vehicle while responding to a car fire Monday night has died of his injuries, New Jersey State Police confirmed this morning.

Trooper Sean Cullen, 31, was struck around 8:15 p.m. as he was walking near the crash scene on Interstate 295 southbound near milepost 23.4 at the scene of a car fire.

He was airlifted to Cooper University Hospital with head injuries where he died around 12:30 this morning, police said in an announcement. 

The 22-year-old woman who struck him stopped immediately and is cooperating with police, authorities said. No charges had been filed as of Tuesday morning and police have not yet identified the driver, NJ.com reports.
