Columbus, OH, police say two men wanted to get attention on social media, and they posted shooting threats to do just that.

Investigators say 20-year-old Yusuf Suliman Conteh and 20-year-old Damon Andrew Rosemond are in the Franklin County Jail on weapons charges. Police say the pair got on Periscope, a social media app that lets people broadcast events live, saying if they got 100 viewers they would take an AR-15 pistol, and 30 rounds of ammo, and begin randomly shooting in the city.

After they got the viewers, police say they headed out to complete the mission, but a Periscope viewer in South Carolina spotted what was happening.

That's when he sent a tip to a California-based crime tip website called No Thiefs Allowed. Website operators then called Columbus police who were later able to nab the pair based on landmarks spotted in the video.

No shots were fired, and no one was hurt, ABC6 reports.
