Northern California Officer Dies While Working Security Job

The Pittsburg (CA) Police Department announced that Donnie Pearman, a 20-year-veteran of the agency, passed away suddenly while off-duty and working security.

The Pittsburg (CA) Police Department announced Tuesday that Donnie Pearman, a 20-year-veteran of the agency, passed away suddenly while off-duty and working security, reports East County Today.

According to sources, Pearman was working off-duty security at the Sun Valley Mall in Concord when he responded to a shoplifter in custody. He later stepped out for a moment and then was found in a breakroom unresponsive due to a heart attack. Later in the evening, he passed away.

"Officer Pearman was a 20-year veteran of the department and his presence will be greatly missed by his family, peers, and the community," said Pittsburg Police in a statement.
